For the doubters
Former Bull Steve Kerr on the Bulls:

"I just didn't think the Bulls could lose two starters who were the first and fourth top scorers and beat out a Wizards team with so many weapons,'' Kerr said. "But I don't know now. Ben Gordon just might be the neo-Michael Jordan. I know that may be overstating the issue some. But he's at least in the Andrew Toney category right now. He's strong, compact, very quick and shoots the ball real smooth."

"I just like their whole rookie core. So much for their not having any playoff experience. I'm very impressed by the way they play so well together, share the ball, defend as a unit and are well-coached. The beautiful thing is that the Bulls have a chance to keep these kids together for a good while. I still expect this to be a long series, probably seven games, but you never know."

Yeah baby.

Do yourself a favor and go to the SunTimes website on the left there and go to the Bulls section, tons of great stuff.

Cable
So I haven't had cable for nine months now and on the rare occasion that I do go into someone's place that does have cable (last night when I was watching the Bulls at Matt and Dana's), I'm amazed at how many channels are out there. I keep forgetting. It's crazy. I saw a little bit of the Chopper reality show, the one where they make the motorcycles. I loved that show. But TV is a whore, a temtress, and the fewer channels I have, the better.

Karl Rove
Here's an interesting article on Rove's opinions on the media today.

It's interesting because I think he has a point about the media just existing to stir up bad stuff or controversy on whoever is in power.

He says,
"If more people in government knew about the press and more people in the press knew about governing, the world would be a better place to live," Rove said. "Journalists would perform their craft better if they were more understanding of the realities and complexities of running for and serving in public life."

I saw a parallel with the way sports reporters used to cover baseball teams back in the day (when I didn't exist). Reporters would sometimes NOT publish certain tidbits of information because players had confided in them not to. They kind of gathered around the proverbial table and decided that, no, this is something we don't need to publish. It could be harmfull to the player, to the team, to the city.

Stuff like that. And I think Rove has a point there somewhere.

Our obsession with full disclosure is getting out of hand and is becoming counter-productive.

Wood and Cubs
Saw the game on Sunday and I gotta say, he looked outstanding whenever he used his changeup. He had great control over it and hitters just can't hit him when he's got his control. It's a shame he got tendonitis and had to leave. It reminded me of his playoff performance in 2002 when he just looked unhittable. Why? He was throwing low strikes.

It doesn't bother me that Nomar is out, that TOdd Walker is out, that Kerry is hurting. It really doesn't. If you spend as much money as the Cubs do, then that means you're capable of dealing with injuries like this. And they are. They have Hairston and Neifi Perez (who is just clutch city - I must admit) who can start and their rotation is deep as hell. So no, I'm not worried. They'll be right in there when it's all said and done.

Da Bulls!!!
My Bulls! THey won last night against the Wizards in a great game despite not having Eddy Curry and Luol Deng. The star of the show? ANDRES NOCIONI!!! (he says they call him Chapu - after El Chapulin Colorado) My favorite Bull played out of his mind: 25 points, 18 rebounds.

"On the court, my job is my love because I love the basketball. I try to do my job."

How can you not love this man?

Oh and Gordon scored 30. He's pretty good too.

GO BULLS!!!

The United Center was ROCKING last night, chanting Nocioni's name and raising all kinds of hell. Oh man this was awesome. And fuck all that talk about it being like the days of Jordan, this is a whole different team, different era, different everything.

Helpless, futility
Reading the news is a really sad thing these days. We won't feel the impact of what's being done for years and years. The history books may look back and say "wow, I can't believe we did that back then." But it's always the same, I guess. You don't realize it when it's happening, only when it's over and you can look back at it. There's nothing we can do, just go along for the ride. How sad.

Nomar Hurt II
I'm kind of looking forward to see who they will call up. I'm guessing it will be Ronnny Cedeno from AAA. He had a great spring and is hitting lights out down in Iowa right now. He's fast and can field well. No Richard Lewis because he is slumping badly.

It will be interesting to see if Fontenot gets some ABs.

Nomar Hurt
I hate to make light of a serious situation, but I just thought this picture was too much. I guess I'm not that worried since he wasn't hitting all that well and the offense was still winning ballgames. I guess this means that Neifi will start at SS which means that FINALLY Hairston will start everyday at 2B. I can't believe he started Neifi at 2B again last night, Dusty is unbelievable.

And I'm thinking to myself, "What the hell is that?"
What does that mean? Why would the creator of said line think this would entice me to click on it?

I didn't, by the way. Click on it.
