What's happening with your MLB Playoff broadcasts? The on field camera doesn't really give a worthwhile shot, especially since it is actually IN the playing field. The field is sacred and TV shouldn't be in there. Same with interviewing managers during the game, that's just not right. You shouldn't even be asking, although of course some are going to agree. The Green screen backdrops didn't work for yesterday's two games, they made the players and umpire look blurry and took away from the action. You have a lot of work to get these broadcasts up to an acceptable level.

The broadcasters are a whole different problem, but first start out with the basics.

I was wondering if that camera was in the field of play or not. You go Posada! I would've broken it too. I can't believe they put it in the field of play. I can't wait until Fox's contract runs out, they really suck. What's with these awful screens that they use when going to commercials? Then they use that animated baseball to tell people what pitches do. The last straw was last week when I was watching the Cardinals I think and they zoomed in on the player and the bar at the bottom listed the player's nickname and favorite something or other. What is this little league?

Well said. I can't believe I walked home as fast as I did only to see...Houston vs St Louis. Who cares? Lamest series ever. On the other hand we have the BEST series in baseball and I couldn't watch it. Fuckers.

Reefer Madness
Started reading it today, the first essay is on the history of how marijuana has been handled by the law and how it has (or hasn't) worked in deterring people from using it.

It's really amazing to read some of the laws that are out there and how inconsistent they are. You can get more time for smoking pot than for killing someone is certain places. You can even get sent to jail for life! Crazy.

The worst part is (and I think this is part of Schlosser's thesis) that weed is popular. Millions of people smoke it, yet it's still considered hush hush bad bad. But people are doing it anyway.

This is just going to add to all my other frustrations.

So much for my first day at the Radio Station. I showed up at 5:40 am and the building was locked up. Waited for an hour then left. It was cold. Hopefully this will get straightened out and next week will run smoother.

They were right, we really are all alone. They weren't fucking around and now it's time to look in the mirror and realize that it's no longer time to be fucking around. Time to get to it. Go to it.

DJ Nut
Tomorrow I start going to the radio station here at DePaul. I have a slot from 6-8am so that should be pretty cool. I get to pick my own music and can talk too if I want to. Don't know how much talking I'll be doing since I have to get the hang of all the controls and stuff first.

Afghan "Elections"
Afghan Elections: What a fucking joke. This is the problem with elections. When someone asks, "Were those elections legitimate?" Bush will stand up and say, "Hey, they counted the votes, he (Karzai) won by a landslide. The people have spoken and that's a great thing. Democracy in action."

As usual Mr. Bush, things are never that simple. The counting isn't the problem (although we all know it can be). It really worries me how this country is going to begin its democracy taking its cue from what the US currently has going. Not a great place to start, but I suppose it's still an improvement.
